Wildlife Friendly Business Award is open for entries
Cornwall Wildlife Trust is once again partnering with Visit Cornwall to promote its popular ‘Wildlife Friendly Business Award’ category in the forthcoming Cornwall Tourism Awards 2015.
The Trust’s award has been developed to give local businesses a chance to shine, allowing them to showcase their commitment to supporting, enhancing and promoting nature in Cornwall, for the enjoyment of their guests. It seeks to inspire a greater recognition by the tourist industry of the value of our environment in attracting many visitors to Cornwall. The county’s unique landscapes and beautiful coastlines provide many opportunities to stimulate the curiosity of locals and visitors alike. Whether it’s exploring the rockpools on our beaches, or spotting birds and butterflies in the countryside, there is something for all ages to enjoy.
Keith Hambly-Staite, Chairman of the Trust’s Marketing and Fundraising Committee says,
“The Cornwall Tourism Award showcases good practice and our category highlights the importance of businesses that make a significant contribution to protecting our environment and its wildlife. After all, our natural environment is the reason many people come to Cornwall in the first place.”
Last years’ worthy Gold winners were Gwel an Mor, based in Portreath. Gary Zammit, Head Wildlife Ranger says,
‘‘To win Gold in the Trust’s Wildlife Friendly Business Award is fantastic as it highlights what we do for wildlife and hopefully how well we do it, especially to visitors to the county. It’s wonderful to receive such a credit for what we love to do.”
The ‘Wildlife Friendly Business Award’ will this year will be sponsored by local Cornwall Environmental Consultants (CEC) Ltd, based at Allet, who provide ecology and wildlife surveys and landscape architect services across the South West.
Tourism businesses who want to enter must register their interest by Friday 19th June, with a final deadline of Friday 26th June.
