Redrow Homes Landscape Strategy and Masterplan

CEC were commissioned by Redrow Homes to produce a landscape strategy and masterplan for a new 150 unit site near St Austell.

The site is surrounded by a mixture of agricultural fields and development.  The proposals were for a mix of affordable homes with associated green space provision including two public open spaces, an orchard and extensive tree planting.

Working with a sensitive landscape

The team also undertook a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment to assess the likely effects of the scheme over a 5km radius. The findings were fed back to inform the design and the preparation of the landscape strategy. Through the design process the overall layout of the scheme was modified to preserve all existing trees and hedgerows (other than breaks required for new access routes).  Public open space was incorporated to provide additional screening to sensitive landscape and visual receptors.

The proposals were able to demonstrate that potential landscape and visual effects had been considered from the early stages of design.  CEC also produced an amended masterplan to positively address any constraints and reduce effects on sensitive receptors.

Feedback:

“Redrow have been very pleased with all aspects of the work CEC have done for us, and we wouldn’t hesitate to use them again on future projects.”
