Plymouth University Maintenance
Following on from CEC’s successful delivery of the Historic Landscape Restoration Project at Drakes Place, we were commissioned to develop proposals and specifications for the campus wide landscape maintenance operations. The documents produced will be used to tender and contract administrate the university’s new landscape maintenance contract to cover the next five years.
The existing maintenance contract was reviewed and rationalised to feed into a new package of schedules, specifications and plans that properly reflect the university’s needs and aspirations. Specifications were produced in NBS and maintenance operations were broken down and quantified in a series of schedules, allowing for straightforward amendments to respond to changes that might occur through the lifetime of the contract.
A series of plans were also produced, clearly identifying the areas to receive different landscape treatments, and allowing for areas and quantities to be calculated. This also proved to be a worthwhile exercise to the university in terms of clarifying exactly what areas they are responsible for.
The documents and plans produced should allow for an unambiguous and fair tender process, and make monitoring and administering the upcoming landscape contract as straightforward and dispute free as is possible, resulting in a high quality University landscape for all to enjoy.
