CEC have acted as the role of Landscape Architect and Lead Consultants and are working in partnership with Hydrock (Structural and Services Engineers), Randall Simmonds (Quantity Surveyors) and Jenkins and Potter Consulting Engineers (CDM co-ordinator) to deliver the project.
As with all heritage restoration projects, it was vital to closely monitor the works as they progressed in to ensure they were delivered in the sympathetic manner that was specified. There are always inherent uncertainties when working on historic structures and features, and a somewhat flexible process need to be taken; amending and developing proposals and construction details for certain features as their true state of disrepair became apparent. The end result was well received by the conservation officer, the HLF representative, and of course the greenspaces’ users,
This project was awarded “Best Public Space” and “The People of Plymouth Award” in the 2014 Abercrombie Awards; an event run every three years by Plymouth City Council to celebrate design and planning excellence within the city.
