Truro Langarth Park & Ride, Cornwall – Ecology, Masterplanning, Landscape Design, Arboriculture, Site Supervision and Monitoring

As lead designer for the Langarth Park & Ride Site, CEC developed from concept a Park for Truro, seeing it through to the opening of the site. In doing so it has set a high standard for future schemes; the design has been fundamental to gaining several national and regional awards. An excellent understanding of the Council’s requirements led to a design that is not just functional but also very sympathetic to its setting. The landscape architects’ close working with their ecological colleagues pre-empted several planning issues. The tight deadlines set by the Council were all met within an equally tight budget. The scheme has since gone on to win several awards including:

Meadowflats Apartments, St Ives, Cornwall – BREEAM Ecology and Landscape Design

CEC worked closely with us on this challenging site in St Ives. The project is targeted to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. To meet the Code’s ecology requirements, CEC carried out a Phase 1 Habitat survey to identify range of species present on the existing site.

CEC’s ecologists and landscape designers liaised closely with the project team to prepare a landscape scheme that aims to enhance the site’s plant diversity. This included liaison with a roofing supplier to advise on plant species for incorporation in the proposed biodiverse green roof specification. Their work was presented in a clear, concise report that was submitted to the design stage Code assessor.

The CEC team were helpful, friendly to deal with and their work was delivered on time and on budget. I would be happy to work with them again.

Hidderley Park Residential Development, Camborne, Cornwall – Landscape Strategy, Design, Ecology and Arboriculture

Robertson Developments Ltd engaged CEC as part of the design team for a large residential scheme for 270 dwellings and other commercial space at Hidderley Park, Camborne. The disciplines we sought from CEC were in relation to landscape design, ecology and arboricultural matters. We found CEC to be extremely thorough and precise, providing detailed design and other reports to the highest standard. For such a large scheme with many design disciplines involved CEC worked well to integrate and communicate with others to provide an overall successful service.

The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate, St Austell – Landscape Design, Ecology and Arboricultural Services

CEC’s team delivered a comprehensive suite of ecology, landscape and arboricultural services for us, often to tight timescales and budgets.  We were delighted with their dedication to fulfil client requirements and achieve quality in all they do.  Staff are highly professional and motivated.  Their input resulted in a bio-diverse and sustainable scheme in line with our Close to Nature theme for the external areas of the 4 star hotel.  Our visitors can enjoy a great range of wildlife and great scenery, as well as well designed courtyard and garden areas, all contributing to them having a most relaxing and enjoyable stay. We would highly recommend CEC’s team and services and will seek to use them again in any future schemes we may built.

Manfield Way Commercial Site St Austell, Cornwall – BS5837 Tree Survey and Assessment

“CEC provided consultancy and advice on landscape issues, and were closely involved in negotiations with the LPA which paved the way for the grant of a favourable planning consent for the overall development. They then produced the detailed scheme for implementation and construction. They were competent and efficient and their fees were reasonable and fair for the work and tasks involved and represented good value. I would look to them again in the first instance for a similar project in that area.”

Former Men’s Institute, Penhallow – Bat Surveys and Method Statement

“Steve Adams provided friendly and professional advice and sought to minimise client’s costs. He responded at short notice to complete the surveys within the season and I’ve learned some interesting facts about bats.”
