Constructing Excellence – new appointment

According to the LEP, the Cornwall construction industry is worth £867m a year to the economy of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, employing around 25,000 people. CEC is keen to enhance the reputation of the construction industry within Cornwall and encourage young people to consider their future careers in this sector.

Our Principal Landscape Architect Birgit Höntzsch shares this view, so we were delighted with her appointment as Chair of Constructing Excellence Cornwall Hub (CECH).

Constructing Excellence is a national organisation with regional and local representations, promoting innovation and collaborative working. It aims to facilitate change in the construction industry following Government policy.

The hub supports and actively encourages thought-leadership and the sharing of best practice.  This aligns well with our values and ambitions at CEC, and Birgit is proud to work with the Cornwall construction industry members to push forward the Constructing Excellence aims in Cornwall.

“In my role as chair, I want to concentrate on raising the profile of CECH and increasing its membership in Cornwall”, said Birgit. “I will also focus on supporting the profile of the construction industry with young people and educators such as schools and colleges.”
