Tremough Campus, Penryn – BREEAM Land Use & Ecology Advice
CEC undertook phase 1 habitat and detailed species surveys at Tremough Campus, Penryn and then prepared ecological assessments and advised on maximising BREEAM land use and ecology credits for three buildings: Exchange, Air and ESI. Our initial commission was with the client Tremough Delivery Vehicle, and Leadbitter retained our services during their construction contracts.
This work involved extensive liaison with the client and design team throughout the design and construction process to advise on measures to improve the sites for biodiversity, predominantly using a mixture of bird and bat boxes and sensitively designed soft planting schemes. Planting schemes were designed to hit the species gain targets in BREEAM, based on area-weighted plant species densities pre and post development, this included a green roof on one building.
We also advised the client on future site management to form part of the landscape maintenance plan, so that the biodiversity enhancements continue to deliver benefits into the future.
