Botany and NVC Surveys
CEC undertakes a range of botanical surveys, ranging from a single species survey or a close look at plant communities in a National Vegetation Classification (NVC) Survey, covering Cornwall, Devon and the rest of the South West.
NVC surveys may be needed for some proposed developments, but are more often requested as part of biological recording or monitoring schemes to help inform site management.
We have links with a range of specialist surveyors who can undertake surveys for lower plants and lichens. There are several internationally and nationally important mosses and liverworts that associate with metal rich substrate that is common around the metalliferous mining sites in Cornwall. This is a very specialist field, but we have access to sufficient expertise in this area, and we can obtain quotes and manage their input on your behalf.
