Old Rydon Lane Residential Development, Exeter, Devon – BS5837 Tree Survey and Assessment
CEC Ltd undertook a tree survey and assessment to BS5837 and ecological survey work for those residential development proposals, feeding back into the design development process.
Trees were surveyed on site and tagged as appropriate. Results were recorded in a schedule, including tree species, height and spread data, condition and BS5837 category. Recommendations were made for adjustments to the layout and possible options to reduce impacts on trees. A tree protection and removal plan was prepared.
The site is located in Exeteroff a local road, accessed by a lane along a well treed hedge. Trees on site were concentrated along the boundary hedges and conflicts could be avoided by allowing sufficient development free areas to the hedges (used as gardens) and by working with the engineers on the hedge break point for the access and visibility splay arrangements.
